Desvenlafaxine sold under brand names such as Pristiq. Desvenlafaxine is a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor used as an antidepressant. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine and helps maintain mental balance.

Dosage:
Desvenlafaxine is available as extended-release (long-acting) tablets for oral use. In general, take this medicine once a day with or without food. Take desvenlafaxine at about the same time each day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to clarify any areas you do not understand. Take desvenlafaxine as directed. Do not take more or less, or more often than directed by your doctor.

Serious side effects include:
- suicide thoughts in under age 25 people
- serotonin syndrome
