Amlodipine/Benazepril sold under brand names such as Lotrel. It relaxes the blood vessels so the heart doesn't have to pump as hard. Benazepril belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by reducing certain chemicals that constrict blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more smoothly.
Uses:
Amlodipine and benazepril are combination drugs used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
Amlodipine and benazepril may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Dosage:
Amlodipine and benazepril combination is available as an oral capsule. In general, take once a day. Do not forget to take your amlodipine and benazepril doses at approximately the same time each day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to clarify any areas you do not understand. Take amlodipine and benazepril as directed. Do not take more or less, or more often than directed by your doctor.
Side Effects:
Some common side effects are:
- swelling of hands, feet, ankles, or lower extremities
- cough
- headache
- dizzy
Some side effects can be serious:
- swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips or eyes
- hoarse voice
- difficulty swallowing or breathing
- syncope
- severe rash
- yellowing of the skin or eyes
