Uses:
Mirtazapine is used to treat major depressive disorder in adults. The effect lasts for him up to 4 weeks, but it can also appear after only 1-2 weeks. Often used in depression complicated by anxiety and insomnia
It is not known whether mirtazapine is safe and effective in treating her MDD in children.
Dosage:
Mirtazapine is available as a tablet and as a disintegrating tablet to be taken orally. In general, take it once a day before going to bed. Can be taken with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to clarify any areas you do not understand. Take mirtazapine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less, or more often than directed by your doctor.
To take a disintegrating mirtazapine tablet, open the blister with dry hands and place the tablet on your tongue. The tablet disintegrates on the tongue and can be swallowed with saliva. You don't need water to swallow a disintegrating tablet. Tablets removed from the blister pack cannot be stored. Do not split disintegrating mirtazapine tablets.
It may take several weeks or longer to see the full effects of mirtazapine. Continue taking mirtazapine, even if you feel well. Do not stop taking mirtazapine without first talking to your doctor. Your doctor will probably gradually reduce the dose.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, increased appetite and weight gain. Serious side effects include mania, low white blood cell count, and increased suicide in children. Withdrawal symptoms may occur when you stop taking the drug. Evidence of the dangers of this combination has been refuted, but its use with MAOIs is not recommended. It is unknown if it is safe to use during pregnancy.
