Cyclobenzaprine (also marketed under the brand name Flexeril) is a drug used to treat sudden muscle spasms caused by musculoskeletal disorders. Not useful for cerebral palsy. Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant. Blocks nerve impulses (or pain sensations) sent to the brain. Cyclobenzaprine is used with rest and physical therapy to treat musculoskeletal disorders such as pain and injuries.

Uses:
Cyclobenzaprine is used with rest, physical therapy, and other measures to relax muscles and relieve pain and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries.
Dosage:
Cyclobenzaprine is available as tablets and oral extended-release capsules. Tablets are usually taken three times a day with or without food. Extended-release capsules are usually taken once daily with or without food. Do not take this medicine for more than 3 weeks without consulting your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to clarify any areas you do not understand. Take Cyclobenzaprine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less, or more often than directed by your doctor.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, fatigue, dizziness, and dry mouth. Serious side effects may include arrhythmias. There is no evidence of harm in pregnancy, but it has not been well studied in this population.
Do not use cyclobenzaprine if you have an allergy to drugs, certain types of thyroid disease (hyperthyroidism), heart block, congestive heart failure, abnormal heart rhythm, or if you have had a recent heart attack. .
Do not use cyclobenzaprine if you have taken MAOIs such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine in the past 14 days.
