Information
In 2004, the FDA granted Pregabalin its first approval as an antiepileptic, also known as an anticonvulsant, medication. It works by reducing the brain's impulses that cause seizures. Additionally, pregabalin affects brain chemicals that transmit pain signals throughout the nervous system.
Uses:
If you have diabetes and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), Pregabalin capsules, oral solution (liquid), and extended-release (long-acting) tablets are used to treat neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves) in your arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet, or toes. the sharp, burning pain or aches that can last for months or years following a shingles attack). Pregabalin is also used to treat fibromyalgia (a chronic condition that can cause pain, muscle stiffness and tenderness, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep) and neuropathic pain that can result from a spinal cord injury. Pregabalin is also taken orally as a solution. In adults and children over the age of one month, Pregabalin capsules and oral solution are used in conjunction with other medications to treat certain types of seizures.
Dosage:
Take pregabalin simultaneously every day, regardless of food.
Pregabalin extended-release tablets should be swallowed whole, not crushed, chewed, or broken.
Carefully measure the pregabalin liquid. Use a medicine dose-measuring device (not a kitchen spoon) or the supplied dosing syringe.
If your symptoms do not get better or worse, you should see a doctor.
Try not to quit utilizing pregabalin unexpectedly, regardless of whether you feel fine. Sudden cessation may result in additional seizures or unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Before completely stopping, taper your dose as directed by your doctor for at least a week.
Side effects:
Headaches, dizziness, sleepiness, confusion, poor coordination, dry mouth, vision issues, and weight gain are all common side effects. Serious side effects include angioedema, drug abuse, and an increased risk of suicide.
