In adults and children aged 6 and older, montelukast is also used to avoid bronchospasm (difficulties breathing) during exercise. Additionally, adults and children 2 years of age and older who have the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (a condition that only occurs during specific times of the year) as well as adults and children 6 months of age and older who have perennial allergic rhinitis (a condition that occurs all year long).
