Glibenclamide, also known as glyburide. Glyburide is an oral diabetes drug that helps control blood sugar levels.
Uses:
- Glyburide is used in combination with diet, exercise, and sometimes other medications to treat type 2 diabetes.
- Do not use glyburide if you are being treated with bosentan (traclear) or if you have diabetic ketoacidosis.
Dosage:
Glyburide comes as an oral tablet. It is usually taken once daily with breakfast or the first main meal of the day. However, in some cases, the doctor may tell her to take glyburide twice a day. Take your glyburide dose at approximately the same time each day so you don't forget to take it. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to clarify any areas you do not understand. Take glyburide exactly as directed. Do not take more or less, or more often than directed by your doctor.Although glyburide helps control blood sugar levels, it does not cure diabetes. Continue taking glyburide even if you feel well. Do not stop taking glyburide without talking to your doctor.

Common side effects include :
- nausea
- heartburn
Serious side effects include:
- angioedema
- hypoglycemia.
Not generally recommended during pregnancy, but can be used while breastfeeding
