Ropinirole sold under brand names such as Requip. Ropinirole belongs to a class of drugs called dopamine agonists. It works by acting as a substitute for dopamine, a natural substance in the brain needed to control movement.
Uses:
Ropinirole is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease ( a disorder of the nervous system that causes difficulties with movement, muscle control, and balance ). Ropinirole is also used to treat restless leg syndrome (RLS).
Ropinirole may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Dosage:
Follow all directions on the prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Do not take this medicine in large or small amounts or for longer than recommended.
Side Effects:
Some of the common side effects rae:
- Drowsiness
- dizziness
- weakness
- headache
- confusion
- hallucinations
- nausea
- vomiting
- disillusioned stomach
- constipation
Some side effects can be serious:
- Blurred vision
- narrow vision, sore or swollen eyes
- seeing halos around lights
- restless muscle movements of the eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck
