Hydrocortisone is the name of the hormone cortisol. Hydrocortisone belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids. Activates natural substances in the ear to reduce swelling, redness and itching.It can be given by mouth.
Uses:
- Topical hydrocortisone is a steroid used to treat inflammation and itching caused by skin conditions that respond to steroid medications.
- Hydrocortisone topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Dosage:
Use as directed on the label or as directed by your doctor.
Do not take orally. Topical drugs are intended for use on the skin only.
Read and carefully follow all directions for use that come with your medicine. If you do not understand these directions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Wash your hands before and after using hydrocortisone, unless you are using this medicine to treat the skin on your hands.
Apply a thin layer of medicine to the affected skin and rub gently. Do not apply this medicine to large areas of skin unless directed by your doctor.

- severe irritation of treated skin
- Hyperglycemia
