Information
Among others, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole marketed under the brand name Bactrim. It consists of 1 part trimethoprim and 5 parts sulfamethoxazole. Can be administered orally or intravenously.
Uses:
Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim are combination antibiotics used to treat ear infections, urinary tract infections, bronchitis [ bronchitis is an illness of the tubes leading to the lungs that causes a very bad cough ], traveler's diarrhea, shigellosis[ Shigella bacteria cause an infection called shigellosis. Most people with Shigella infection have diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, and stomach cramps. ], and Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia [ Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is a serious infection caused by the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii. ].

Dosage:
Shake the oral suspension . Measure your dose with the included measuring device .Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim injections are given intravenously. Familiarize yourself with the correct mixing and storage methods for liquids . If you do not know how to use the injection, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Do not prepare the injection until you are ready to inject. Call your pharmacist if the medicine is cloudy, discolored, or contains particles.
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat and light. Do not chill.
