Cyanocobalamin is a type of vitamin B.12 for the treatment of vitamin B
12 deficiency, except in the presence of cyanide toxicity. Deficiency can occur due to pernicious anemia, after surgical resection of the stomach, fish tapeworms, or colon cancer.B vitamins are less preferred than hydroxocobalamin for treatment.

Dosage:

Cyanocobalamin comes as a gel for application inside the nose. Usually used once a week. To remember to use cyanocobalamin nasal spray, use it on the same day each week. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to clarify any areas you do not understand. Use Cyanocobalamin Nasal Gel as directed. Do not use more or less, or use more often than directed by your doctor.

Cyanocobalamin Nasal Gel provides sufficient vitamin B12 only when used regularly. You may need to use Cyanocobalamin Nasal Spray weekly for the rest of your life. Continue to use Cyanocobalamin Nasal Gel even if you feel well. Do not stop using cyanocobalamin nasal spray without first consulting your doctor. If you stop using cyanocobalamin nasal spray, anemia may return and nerve damage may occur.

Hot foods and drinks can cause mucus to form in your nose that can wash out Cyanocobalamin Nasal Gel.Do not consume hot food or drink for an hour before using Cyanocobalamin Nasal Spray or for an hour after using this medicine. Do not eat or drink any beverages.

Side Effects:

Cyanocobalamin nasal gel may cause side effects:

  • headache
  • stomach pain
  • stuffy or runny nose
  • sore tongue
  • weakness

Some side effects can be serious:

  • unusual bruising or bleeding
  • muscle weakness, cramps or pain
  • leg pain
  • extreme thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • confusion
  • A burning or tingling sensation in your arms, legs, hands, or feet
  • sore throat, fever, chills, and other signs of infection
