Docusate is a stool softener that softens stools and makes them easier to pass.

Uses:

Docusate is used to relieve occasional constipation (irregularity) after eating.
Documents come in many brands and formats. Not all brands are featured in this brochure.

Docusate may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Dosage:

Use Docusate as directed. Follow all directions on the prescription label. Do not use this medicine in large or small amounts or for longer than recommended.

Side Effects:

  • rectal bleeding
  • not having a bowel movement after taking a laxative
