What is Ergocalciferol? Full information, usage, benefits and side effects

Ergocalciferol belongs to the vitamin D analogs class of drugs. It works by encouraging the body to utilize more calcium from food or supplements.
Vitamin D2 is ergocalciferol. Calcium is better absorbed by your body if you get enough vitamin D. Hypoparathyroidism, also known as parathyroid dysfunction, is treated with ergocalciferol.

Ergocalciferol is used to treat hypoparathyroidism, which is a condition in which the body does not produce enough parathyroid hormone. It is also used to treat refractory rickets, which is softening and weakening of the bones that doesn't respond to treatment. It is also used to treat familial hypophosphatemia, which is rickets or osteomalacia that is caused by an inherited condition where the body doesn't break down vitamin D

Ergocalciferol can be taken orally as a capsule. Typically, it is taken once per day. Every day, take ergocalciferol at roughly the same time. Carefully follow the instructions on your prescription label, and if you have any questions, ask your pharmacist or doctor. Follow all directions when taking ergocalciferol.
