What is Gambhari? - Information, uses & side effects

  • Gambhari is commonly known as Chandhara tree. The tree grows in the foothills of the Himalayas, Nilgiri, and some parts of the east and west coasts of India. It is a well-known herb commonly used in Dashmool Churna due to its various properties.
  • According to Ayurveda, gambali can be used both orally and topically. Oral ingestion or topical application of gambali leaves can help with arthritis pain as it helps balance aggravated vata. It has Vrishya (aphrodisiac) properties that help to modify and improve stamina.
  • Gambhari is available in powder form. To treat arthritis pain, take 2-3g of Gambhari or as directed by your doctor. Take with lukewarm water once or twice a day, preferably after meals. Avoid self-medication and overdose of Gambhari.

Gambhari is generally well tolerated and has no side effects when taken at recommended doses. However, it is recommended that you consult your doctor before using Gambhari.
